From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
