Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
